That limits who can access the application though, also, you’d have to think of cross-platform support which is much harder than cross-browser.
One thing I don’t like about Google: the Web is definitely an important platform, but I really, REALLY think that the Browser definitely should NOT be the most important platform. I would prefer specialized applications (like office suites/graphics programs/etc) to be network-transparent instead, allowing for all the power of the user’s computer’s resources with all the collaboration of the web. THAT is, I believe, the ultimate working machine.
